Yield: 2 Large Loaves
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 Tbsp. poppy seeds
- 2 + 3/4 cups sugar, divided
- 1 1/2 cups oil
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 2 tsp. almond extract (1 1/2 + 1/2 tsp, divided)
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- Combine dry ingredients, set aside.
- Cream 2 cups of the sugar with the oil, eggs, and the vanilla and 1 1/2 tsp. almond extract.
- Add dry ingredients to the sugar mixture alternately with the milk.
- Bake at 350º in 2 greased loaf pans for 30-60 minutes or until they test done.
- Combine orange juice with the remaining sugar and 1/2 tsp. almond extract. Drizzle over the hot loaves.
