Blonde Brownies

  • 2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup shortening, melted
  • 2 slightly beaten eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  1. Mix flour, soda, baking powder, salt.
  2. Add sugar to melted shortening, mix well.
  3. Blend in eggs and vanilla.
  4. Add flour mixture gradually, mix well.
  5. Spread in a 13"x9" pan.  
  6. Sprinkle with chips.
  7. Bake at 350º for 30 minutes.
  8. Cool in pan; cut in bars.
