- 3/4 cup shortening
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 3 cups oats, uncooked
- Beat shortening and sugars, then egg, water, and vanilla together until creamy.
- Sift flour, salt, soda; add to creamed mixture; blend well.
- Stir in oats.
- Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
- Bake at 350º from 10 to 12 minutes.
